‘Rainbow’ Project, 3 workshops per week, January – March 2008, KOZO Studio and Gallery, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny. PARTICIPATION: 29 children 4 – 12 years of age, in 3 groups
ACTIVITIES: drawing, watercolour painting, colour schemes and colour studies, batik techniques on paper and cotton, painting with dyes, hand papermaking from recycled materials and natural fibres, silk paper making, and glass painting. Participants have been exploring the theme of ‘Rainbow’ through a process based project, in an artistic, non competitive environment, encouraging the expression of individual ideas and self reflection.
Children have been taking part in the selection of their own works as well as planning and designing the final exhibition installation together with the artist. 9 children have been involved in curating the exhibition: selecting works, planning layouts, labelling works and installing displays.

PARTICIPATION: 20 children 5 – 12 years of age, in 2 groups

Ideally located in the Watergarden Gallery that is surrounded by a beautiful garden we had the chance to explore the subject through outdoor explorations and experiments as well as a variety of art and craft processes: print making (mono prints), silk fibre papermaking, painting and dyeing techniques.
The resulting exhibition was curated and installed with an active involvement of participating children!
